Taking your medical elective abroad in the developing world is a challenging yet exciting and rewarding experience. In most cases you will come across diseases that are rare or no longer exist in your home country, making it a great opportunity to broaden your horizons and medical experience. There are also a lack of resources and many understaffed hospitals and clinics, making the work you do very much appreciated and needed. Along the way you will meet new friends, visit new places, and learn a great deal more than you already have.

It’s a great mix of work and pleasure in beautiful surroundings and plenty of chances for adventure. There may be times when you miss home and family, but we are always available and your time will likely be filled at your placement and relaxing or going on adventures. You won’t be alone either as there are always plenty of other medical students in the same situation. We are here to make your experience as comfortable as possible.

Organizing your elective placement abroad can be a stressful process, but we do everything we can to make it as easy as possible. Your placement and housing is all organized for you and we also have many readymade day trips for you to enjoy your new surroundings on your time off. Working with us will surely be an enjoyable process for everyone involved.

Working overseas is really a chance to see a new world, one completely different to what you are accustomed to. Getting integrated with the locals is a superb cultural experience whilst you try their foods and experience their local customs. You are always made to feel welcome and those at your workplace will be forever grateful for your help.

Don’t be afraid to ask questions when you come across a new disease or something unknown to you previously. The placement is your window of opportunity for learning a wide range of new skills and knowledge. You’ll most likely be using outdated equipment and come across lack of staff and overflowing hospitals, however, this all contributes to making you a more efficient and experienced medical student for your future.

Overall, small issues such as missing your family or being put out of your comfort zone are far outweighed by the professional and personal experience you will have that will stay with you into your future career and life. We guarantee an experience you’ll never forget!
