Considering that the dentistry elective is a very demanding programme, we have taken advantage of this so that our programme in Peru creates a close contact to people who really need a dentist, which is why we have created DENTAL OUTREACH. Every student joining our programme in Perú will become part of this. Contact with real people who seldom get to see a doctor or dentist will be granted the service and they will appreciate all you do to help them. This dental outreach will take you to the most amazing places within our country either in the beautiful mountains of the Andes or along the stunning and majestic Amazon River. We cover all costs of the programme and all medicines so that the people we help can enjoy a free service.

Apart from all the great work experience you will have plenty of free time to enjoy your new surroundings and immerse yourself in your new home. Learning customs and traditions and trying their delicious cuisine is just some of the ways you will see how different It is to live in another part of the world.

If you join Mundo Verde for your dental electives we will do everything possible to make sure you are provided with excellent opportunities to broaden your horizons while putting your dental skills into practice. We run a dental outreach program which puts all its efforts into helping the underprivileged community and those that don’t usually get access to dental care.

LIMATAMBO Y HUYRO

You will be travelling to Limatambo for a week and then to Huyro for the second week to aid in dentistry where you will get plenty of chances to help out and get valuable hands on experience whilst all the while being accompanied by a full time on site supervisor so you always have a helping hand if you need it. We provide all resources and materials you will need so you will have everything you are likely to need. Your work is of great help to the communities as many of them may have let conditions get to a very advanced stage due to not being able to visit a dentist regularly or even at all. You will leave a great impact on them while all the time improving your skills with actual practice. An excellent once in a lifetime opportunity for any dental student.
Between working in the communities, you will have 2 weekends in Cusco with activities that we have organised for you. You will have a weekend for sightseeing and then we have included 2 tours, one for each weekend, to make your time here even more enjoyable. Accommodation throughout the program is included along with the meals. You don’t need to worry about any of these things during your time with us so you make the most of enjoying the experience.

You will be located near all the important amenities like banks, restaurants and historic monuments so you have everything within walking distance. While in the rural communities our chosen accommodation is a comfortable lodge with all the facilities to make your stay more pleasant and enjoyable. Our team will always be available during your time with us so you don’t need to worry about anything.
Spanish lessons are not provided during your dental elective in Peru, however, we will arrange interpreters for the hands-on work you will be performing so no need to worry about language barriers.

Our Mundo Verde Dental Outreach program in Iquitos is an excellent spot for your dental elective abroad. We give you excellent chances to expand your dental knowledge while providing an outstanding service to the local community which is the main goal in the underprivileged villages where the program takes place.
Along the Amazon and its tributaries there are numerous villages who rarely, or even never, get to see a dentist and are in great need of this type of care. You are likely to see cases where people have let conditions get to a crucial stage providing you with new experiences. This program gives you many opportunities to practice and work hands on developing skills whilst being accompanied by a site supervisor all the while. Not many people get chances like these and it is a wonderful experience for any dental student. The locals who live in these remote areas are forever grateful for the help you give and you will leave feeling fulfilled in the knowledge of how much help you have provided and enriched with all the hands on experience you will have had.
At the weekends and time away from work we have set up 2 tours that are included as part of your program as well as some free time to yourself to soak up your new surroundings. Comfortable accommodation and meals are included, and someone will be on call 24/7 for whenever you need them.
