There are also some great shopping areas to check out like Jockey Plaza and Larcomar, as well as interesting historical sites such as Huaca Pucllana and Pachacamac. Elective

Medical Elective

While undertaking your medical elective with Mundo Verde in Lima you will get the chance to start work quickly as the doctors are always in need of extra help. You will get some great hands on experience during your internship and witness many diseases uncommon in your own country. Poor sanitation in Peru means that there is a lot of cross contamination and diseases spread easily, like tuberculosis. Helping the doctors on their rounds and working alongside them means this medical elective gives you a unique chance to broaden your medical knowledge and put it into practice. In your time off you can also explore the many sites of the city or taste the delicious local and internationally acclaimed cuisine.

Nursing Elective

While partaking in your nursing elective with Mundo Verde in Lima you are able to begin working right away as the doctors are always in need of extra help. You will obtain some great hands on experience during your elective and see many diseases uncommon in your own country. The level of poor sanitation in Peru means that there is a lot of cross contamination and diseases spread easily, such as tuberculosis. You will see a great difference to what you are used to regarding resources and staffing and perhaps some surprising medical conditions. This nursing elective gives you a unique opportunity to widen your medical knowledge and put it into practice. In your spare time you are also able to explore the many historical sites of the city or do some shopping.

Midwifery Elective

Our midwifery elective in Lima will give you the chance to witness many techniques and put them into practice. You work alongside doctors, obstetricians and nurses to create a unique experience while gaining vital medical knowledge for your future career. While working in the hospital you may well come across cases in pregnancy that cease to exist or are very rare in your home country like malaria and tuberculosis or, in some very unfortunate cases, HIV spread from the mother to the child. You may also see cases of pre eclampsia during labour. All of this means for an enriching experience with our Mundo Verde midwifery elective. When away from the hospital you will be able to sample some of the delicious seafood from the area or visit the Lima historical centre among many other places of interest.

Physiotherapy Elective

When selecting the Mundo Verde physiotherapy electives you get to work with adults and children with a wide array of conditions. You will see many things that you may not have come across back home and it is a great chance to take advantage and practice new skills. Unfortunately in this area they are lacking in funds and staff, but this means what you do really makes a difference. You also have free time to enjoy the famous Peruvian cuisine, do some shopping or explore the historical parts of the city.

Spanish lessons

At Mundo Verde, 98% of our students who undertake a healthcare elective have no Spanish language skills at all so whatever the level of your Spanish language is, you should not be concerned, as this is no limiting factor for you to enjoy your placement whatever this is. Our Spanish lessons have been crafted to be delivered to healthcare students, during two weeks you will be learning the basics of the language with a particular focus on healthcare vocabulary and will practice with your tutor as in real life.

You will be asigned a Spanish tutor who will walk you through the specially designed course emphasizing on your needs for your Medical elective in Lima.

Cooking Class in Lima

The indisputable gastronomic capital of South America, Lima has so much to offer to everyone in search of a different gastronomic experience. Our cooking class will give you the chance to prepare your own meal under the guidance of our associate cheff and you will toast with a local drink made by yourself or try a typical Peruvian dish made by your own hands, what an incredible experience.

We do not have complicated application process and remember that you are not applying for a remunerated work, this means that anyone can apply as long as they fulfill the required criteria.
Mundo Verde Elective Placements DO NOT ASK for any type of fee upon registration in any of our programmes, in order to secure your placement we ask for a deposit once your placement has been confirmed at any of our partner hospitals or clinics. This deposit will be used as a prepayment for one of your trips or excursions; this will guarantee your placement. The requested deposit once your placement has been confirmed is US$50 in all of our destinations.
If by any chance, we cannot place you at the requested programme we will locate you in a different destination if desired. This situation does not really happen, however, due to force majeure causes we would relocate you or cancel your placement, if this event would happen, your deposit would be totally refunded.
You must remember that in case you cancel due to any personal reasons then the deposit of US$50 will not be refunded.
Once you fill our enrollment online form, we will be in contact with you to start arranging your placement.
