San Pedro is the principal town on the Ambergris Caye, the biggest and most northerly of the 200 cayes pertaining to the coast of Belize. It is an elite diving and snorkeling hotspot, with dive sites on the barrier reef just a 20-minute boat ride away. Hol Chan Marine Reserve is plentiful with fish and a snorkeler’s fantasy. San Ignacio is represented as the capital of the Cayo region. This area is situated about a 2-hour drive from Belize City and a 10 minute drive from the Guatemala border. San Ignacio has easy access to jungle adventure tours of close by Mayan ruins, caves, and rivers.
